　　二、埃克塞特大学的历史

　　埃克塞特大学的成立是经过几所学校合并而成。早在1851年，当时在埃克塞特市举行了一场展览会，引起了埃克塞特城公众对艺术和科学极大的兴趣，随后在1855年创立了"埃克塞特艺术学校"(Exeter School of Art)，及后1863年成立了"埃克塞特科学学校" (Exeter School of Science)。1893年演变为埃克塞特科技大学学院(Exeter Technical and University Extension College)。在1990年，上述两所学校合并成为"皇家亚伯特纪念学院"(Royal Albert Memorial College)。 到1922年建设成为英格兰西南大学学院(The University College of the South West of England)，这就是今天埃克塞特大学的Streatham校区。该学院于1955年获得皇家特许，正式升格成为埃克塞特大学(University of Exeter)。
